PRINCIPLES OF WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT (ENST 460). An introductory course to the field ofwildlife ecology, conservation, and management. Discussion focuses onrequirements of wildlife, population ecology, animal behavior, predator-preyrelationships, and habitat conservation and management. Development of thefield as a scientific discipline also is covered, along with a review ofimportant ecological principles and processes.

URBAN WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT (ENST 461). Acourse focusing on ecology and management of wildlife in urban and urbanizingareas. Primary emphasis is placed on terrestrial species. Characteristics ofthe metropolitan environment and the plant and animal communities supported inurban and urbanizing areas are discussed, as are landscape ecology andprinciples and approaches to management in urban areas.

FIELD TECHNIQUES IN WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT(ENST 462). A field course givingstudents hands-on experience with techniques in wildlife management that theycan expect to be involved with in many entry-level jobs following graduation.Techniques focus on various methods of conducting indices, estimates, andcensuses of wildlife populations. Fieldwork is conducted on university groundsand nearby federal facilities, state wildlife management areas, and county/cityparks.
