Tank to Table: How UMD students are raising sustainable fish and veggies

Dr. Jose-Luis Izursa's Aquaponics Greenhouse was featured in NBC4's News on September 9, 2026. Dr. Izursa and his students have created a new sustainable source for veggies, herbs, and periodic tilapia harvests for UMD Dinning Services. The plants grow in floating rafts and gain needed nutrients from the fish.
